The Pharaoh Hatshepsut of Egypt (1458 – 1470 BC)
was a woman who was fond of gilding her face with gold and silver dust. She was also known as “Son of the Sun” and depicted in contemporary art as a man.
The Klondike Gold Rush
began in August 1896 along the Klondike River near Dawson City, Yukon, Canada. A total of 12.5 million ounces of gold have been taken from the Klondike area since its discovery.
4500 Years Ago
a gold dental bridge was made for an Egyptian Pharoah. When it was recently discovered by archeologists, its condition was good enough to be used today.
Almost All The Gold ever mined is still around today, unlike any other element on earth. Some is in museums, some in illuminated manuscripts, some buried in vaults of central banks, or in shipwrecks at the bottom of the sea, and a lot of it is in today’s jewelry.
King Solomon’s Mines
were a fabulous source of gold in Biblical times. It was thought they were in mysterious Ophir or the legendary land of Punt. But their exact location was lost for centuries. Then in l976,a Saudi American team of geologists located King Solomon’s mines in the Saudi Arabian desert in a mountainous area called “The Cradle of Gold” midway between Mecca and Medina.
The Golden Fleece, described in the classical legend of Jason and the Argonauts, was based on actual fact. The fleece was a sheepskin staked in the bottom of a gold bearing stream to trap alluvial gold in its lanolin-rich wool. Fleece was used throughout much of the ancient world as well as by 19th Century gold prospectors in the United States and Australia.
Gold Is An Extremely Heavy Metallic Element.
It is one and a half times as heavy as lead and twice as heavy as silver. It is so compact, that a cubic foot of gold weighs about half a ton.

Is Salvador Dali's Galatea of the Spheres suggestive?
We are studying art in school and Galatea of the Spheres came up on our list. The teacher said the painting looks normal, but it is extremely suggestive and that there are things in the painting that she can't even say in school. I have searched the web endless amounts of times, and I have not found a thing about inappropriate things. I also can't see anything that looks inappropriate. Is there anything?
As BeeezKneeez has so admirably shown the painting itself is not terribly suggestive, any "inappropriate" content is in the mind of the viewer. It's possible to see many quite innocent things as naughty if you so wish (I remember a 6 year old finding the word "spuddie" incredibly rude but he couldn't say why). My own thought is that any intimation of oral sex is an accident of the composition, it's the kind of thing that happens when you're painting (you can be totally unaware of it until someone says "hey, that looks just like a...........").
I think your teacher is being a little over cautious but in doing so has provoked an inevitable curiosity.
