Going Out With Your Nude Models

I'm not naive when it comes to the potential for "extracurricular" activities occurring during (or after) a shoot. Obviously, the opportunity for making an actual social connection with the models you work with is always a possibility. Most likely, different readers will have differing ideas regarding what constitutes a "social connection".

Some of you may consider it to be a hug and a kiss on the cheek from the model as she leaves; some of you may consider it to be setting up a time to get together again (this time, in a non-work environment); some of you may desire nothing less than to engage in a fierce bout of wacky sex with a model while the shoot is still in progress; and, finally, some of you may be hoping to meet a model who will later become your wife (providing an interesting story to tell on your 50th wedding anniversary about how the two of you met).

Without getting into what your personal proclivities may be regarding this subject, let's just say that I wouldn't be surprised if the thought of seeing some of your models "socially" has crossed your mind. In fact, I'm aware of the possibility that the main reason some of you are reading this is for that very reason. If this is the case for you, I'm okay with that. I'm well aware that there are very few occupations that offer the sexual allure and potential for adventure that this one does. Trust me, I'm extremely aware of it.

I hope it won't surprise you to learn that there is no such thing as a "Guaranteed-To-Work-Every-Time" method on how to seduce models. Like everyone, models have their own unique personalities. Consequently, there is no possible way to devise some sort of magical system that will cause every model to become immediately attracted to you. However, there are some things you can do that will greatly increase your chances of turning "just another photo shoot" into something significantly more.

I consistently stress the importance of behaving in a "professional" way when it comes to your shoots (and all other aspects of the business). The environment you create for yourself - and present to your models - will have a great deal of impact on the quality of your work. In essence, I'd like to convince you that a photo shoot is, primarily, a "work environment".

However, I'm willing to admit that it is most definitely not a "typical" work environment. Not even close. For one thing, typical work environments rarely include nudity. Can you even remember the last time you went to your local hardware store and received help finding a screwdriver from a beautiful, nude girl wearing only boots and a tool belt? For me, the last time that happened was about three weeks ago. However, I live in an interesting neighborhood.

Without question, the nudity aspect of the shoots you do will result in a certain sense of intimacy to develop between you and your models (whether you want it to or not). At this point, I'm not using the word "intimacy" in a sexual sense. I'm simply using the word to express the fact that the two of you will be sharing something that is ordinarily kept very private and personal.

In other words, during a photo shoot, you and your model will share a fairly intimate experience. After all, she is trusting you in a way that allows her to reveal her body to you. When you photograph a women - no matter how much previous experience she has - she is revealing something very special and unique to you. In essence, she is willing to give you a very private part of herself. Be careful that you don't take this level of intimacy lightly. However, don't make the mistake of believing that the type of intimacy that develops during a shoot means more than it does. In other words, simply because a model is open to you in one way (the modeling aspect) doesn't mean that she will necessarily be open to you in other ways.

For the most part, the initial interaction between a photographer and a model will be no different than that of any two people when first meeting. Sometimes, two people like each other immediately; sometimes they don't. Sometimes it takes a while to get to know a person; sometimes all the time in the world won't make a difference. It often seems as though whether or not two individuals will get along well comes down to some sort of cosmic roll of the dice. However, if you learn to pay attention to a few things, you'll be able to find clues before the dice stop tumbling.

Within a few moments of meeting a new model, I will know - with near certainty - whether she and I are going to get along well. Even if she is initially nervous, defensive, or otherwise "not being herself"; I'll still able to get a good sense of the person she really is. I'm not implying that I am some sort of "Model Whisperer". What I do possess, however, is the ability to easily resist a specific urge that many men cannot: The urge that tells them they must "sell" themselves to a new woman. This urge typically results in men constantly talking about themselves and their achievements (real or imagined). And, the more attractive a woman is, the more a man will feel the need to "impress" her with tales of his "exploits and abilities". Because of this, by simply using an alternative approach that consists of being relatively quiet upon meeting a new woman - along with taking an actual interest in her life - you can immediately stand out from the rest of the pack.

In essence, what you'll be doing is taking the pressure off yourself to make a good impression and, instead, simply taking a genuine interest in the person you're speaking with. Instead of spending all your time answering questions that she, most likely, didn't even ask, put your energy toward learning more about her. Simply ask her questions and, most importantly, listen to her answers.

You'll quickly find that everyone has interesting things happening in their life. Most likely, she will not be an exception. However, you can't simply decide to speak less about yourself without adding the component of listening more to her. If you make this mistake, you'll just come off looking like a boring bystander. As Spinal Tap's David St. Hubbins once said, "It's such a fine line between stupid and clever."

Admittedly, the depth of connection between you and your models will differ from shoot to shoot. Still, it should go without saying that the interaction between you and a nude model will take place on a more intense level than the interaction between you and a non-nude model.

The inevitable openness that occurs during a nude photo shoot simply does not occur in other types of jobs or social situations. At the very least, this openness will give you a sizable head start if you are interested in taking a relationship with a model beyond just the shoot.

After a shoot is complete, if you are interested in pursuing things further, there are many routes you can take. While these routes may not appear to be much different from those used by most men when pursuing women, remember that you will have the significant advantage of having just spent many hours of very intimate time together. If there is any sort of connection between you and her, the time spent working together will, most likely, have exposed it.

After the shoot is complete, you can ask the model if she would like to go out for coffee. A simple offer such as this will, most likely, result in the highest percentage of positive responses. Another possibility is to ask her if she'd like to get together for dinner (or some other type of date) at a later time.

At the very least, being a photographer in this business is going to provide you with extensive one-on-one access to hundreds of very beautiful women. This type of interaction doesn't occur in many, if any, other jobs. Inevitably, you're going to be presented with many opportunities. If you wish, don't hesitate to take advantage of them.

I say true, provided that the artist painted the person for the sole purpose of appreciating the person's body, meaning no money involved just passion

definitely true! the human body is beautiful in itself (unless it's been abused and is completely obese, or skinny to an unhealthy point)
