Painting Kitchen Cabinets Advice?

We are updating our kitchen. The cabinets are not bad but we want to change the color decor. What type of paint is best to use on cabinets. My husband will be sanding and cleaning as prep but we are not sure of the paint type. Oil base is what we think is best. Thanks for your advice.

You'd better get specific instructions on sanding and painting...Purchase a video from Home Depot or another location. He'll be sanding on veneer wood. If you don't know what that is, veneer is the thinnest wood you can find on the front door panel. One mistake and you'll have a notch or dent when you go to paint...The notch will stand out like you wouldn't believe...Better to sand with fine steel wool. Even that can be too rough in some instances...Best to test on the inside door panel first...It won't be as noticeable that way...Good luck and take your time at the very least...
'I did the same thing and made all the mistakes I'm warning you about so take care if you want them to look professional...Remember, these are the show of your kitchen basically and if you don't do a professional looking job....they won't look professional.
