where can I find some great digital painting tutorials for PS?
I do lots of searches for tutorials on digital painting in Photoshop, but it seems like I get a lot of speed painting tutorials, or ones that simply show a process.
are there any tutorials out there that teach actual technique? step by step? I've read a lot of books and they start out ok, then blast through the tutorial and become very vague.

A really good site is Lynda.com. Lynda not only has Photoshop tutorials but tutorials for just about every other software package you can think of. They have good digital painting tutorials. The downside is you have to sign up for a subscription.
Personally its worth it to me because if I need to know how to do something quick. It saves me the time I'd spend surfing Youtube, Google, etc. Not all of the people that write the free tutorials are good teachers.
