Oil painting on board - fake or genuine?
When looking at this on Ebay, I assumed it was under glass because of the glare. Turns out it's not under glass but rather has sort of a shiny, hard surface. When I look at this "painting" with a magnifying glass I can see brush strokes. There is a small chip that appears as if there is a very thin layer of some type of laminate. It's just so smooth though! Not like an original oil painting. It's in a nice, ornate frame and I paid $75.00 for it but it kind of reminds me of a serving tray! Does anyone know how I could, by myself, verify that this is a genuine painting? It just doesn't look, feel, or smell like any original oil painting on board that I've ever seen.

Usually one doesn't need a magnifying glass to see brushstrokes, except when mentioning Monalisa, for insteance (that ones of the things that makes that work so special).
Have you looked for brush hairs ? It's not unusual to find them.
