Best Paint Colors For A Modern Contemporary Room?

We are re-doing my sons bedroom and he wants it to be modern contemporary with black and white colors with some silver on the legs or the futon. What color(s) would be best to use to paint his room for this type of room? Would it be best to paint it black? Thanks...
