Painting Gab

Gifted Hands in A Big City
In the month of February in 2010, then 15 year old Khalid El-Shabazz decided to be a painter. Not even he knew what was to come out of it! His very first piece was a realistic painting of a boy which displayed raw emotion and the warmth of despair. After being introduced to a few people that were already in the industry making a name for themselves, Khalid El-Shabazz was invited to show at GAB Studio (http://gabstudio.com/), one of the hottest galleries in the Miami Wynwood Arts Distric. That's where he began to get recognized for his extraordinarily rare talent. At his first showing his work stood next to greats like Jay Lonewolf Morales, an internationally known artist and a few other local artist like himself. After that show amazing things began to happen, for example him being shown in the Art Basel. Which in itself is an honor being the youngest to do so at 16.
As a young child Khalid was moved around a lot and exposed to a number of things that may have sparked his artistic abilities. He himself says that a little red M.C Etcher book is what caused him to fall in love with the arts and surrounding himself with friends that had the essance of that same passion in different forms is what allowed his fire to burn to the point where the several obstacles that threatened to break him were demolished with ease. "I'm like a pheonix. From the ashes arrises a new more powerful me." Khalid El-Shabazz said at a recent interview with a Miami arts column.
In December of 2010 Khalid got the opportunity from photographer and gallery owner, Bridges Aderhold (http://bridgesaderhold.com/) to have one of his pop art pieces be shown in the Basel. Khalid jumped at the opportunity right away and stole the show.
Since then, Khalid has been working on improving his many styles and creating one of his own. He has shown about seven times since June of 2010. At the moment (March 18, 2011) Khalid is working on an entirely new and innovative collection for his next showing to make it his best yet. His goal is to show in the big apple (New York City) by the end of the year.
Khalid Paints in numerous styles ranging from realism to pop art and experimenting with abstract expressionism. He's mostly known for painting but he has other talents such as drawing beautiful portraits at large scales, writing short stories and novels which he wants to publish in the future, and philosophy.

What color should I paint my walls?
I'm drawing a blank and so I thought this would be an interesting way to get feedback, though I probably won't get to paint for a while. Just need to tie it all together!
The main colors in the room are black and red with silver and white accents. My bedspread is also black and red. (Link in the bottom.) Not all of my furniture matches right now but it's all dark brown wood. So I need to come up with a color to tie it all in! And NO beige. I hate it.
My style is a mix between modern and Victorian-ish things. Chic mixed with pure elegance, I guess. So accents and decoration ideas would be very helpful also. I already have pictures above my bed as a headboard of sorts.
So I can't wait to see what people come up with! Thanks a lot in advance. Sorry it's so long. I gab too much.

Yeah, I know it's a mess.
I actually love your covers.
So your wanting to figure out what colors to paint your walls?? I have a similar issue everything in my room is silver, black and white...n idk what to do with the paint? But for you I believe One you should stay away from brown and red walls...black too maybe. What you should do is The pictures that you are going to have above your bed. Look at the colors, and see what else could be put in it or what can be dragged out of it. I believe that you should paint your room...maybe a goldish effect you know sponge it on the wall...with a lil gloss. It will really look beautiful. You do not have to do all the walls like that you can mix and match it with stripes, add molding what ever it is that you want.
Hope that I have helped,
Aly
