How Does Stephanie Meyer Get Off Comparing Her Books to Shakespeare?

It's on record that her books are based off of The Merchant of Venice and Romeo and Juliet.

Are you kidding me? Does anyone else think she should just put the computer down and step away from the publishers?

Do not comment if you haven't read these plays since you have no clue what you're talking about. I can't stand little screaming girls talking about how "Twilight is amazing blah blah blah" If you've read Shakespeare there's absolutely no argument that Romeo and Juliet is better than Twilight.

Anyone else agree she needs to just stop trying?
She actually said in interviews "my books are based off of..." so it's not just titles and inspirations, etc.

I don't know if I should answer this question, for I have only read 50% of the two plays that were listed, but I'll go anyway.

I could not read Twilight; it was impossible. I think that Stephanie Meyer comparing Twilight to ANYTHING would be ridiculous, as Twilight is a complete waste of trees, in my opinion, and I'm sorry to Twilight fans, but that's how I feel.

I didn't notice any similarities in reading the pages I somehow read to the play by Shakespeare that I read, but I think that it's ridiculous that she would even compare that rubbish to anything by Shakespeare. His plays are incredible and amazing; her "books" are not.
